The Unopened Gift

You are not alone.

The words echo against the walls of your personal boundaries.

Reaching your hand out, in want, to touch the realness of another in rare connection.

A question drifts through your mind to ponder if this may be something only you can feel and see.

The gift is love.

If it's freely offered to you, with no intentions, or expectations, or limitations, can you openly, and without reservation, accept it?

Do you turn it over and examine it for cracks of what might be hidden there?

Do you search for its real meaning, second guessing its intent?

Would you shake it, expecting unraveling, perhaps as others you have known?

Or instead without questioning, full of trust, you embrace it for all that it is. You accept the gift for all the infinite possibilities that it can possess.

You breathe in the moment of what is beyond the description of the joy it contains. Rejecting all the preconceived notions of what should or could or might be and just be.

Just be.

Can you clear your mind of the things you struggle against?

Is there a path you can take free of thorns and pain?

Is there a place you reach in your mind that is quiet and free from the distractions of things that pull at the fabric of your being? And if there isn't, can you sit in the place that is mine?

Can we share the moment, free from harsh realities and meaningless deadlines or rules, and allow the winds of freedom to brush over our faces and blow through our hair as we hold hands to simply drink in an experience that envelopes us in a bubble of rainbow swirled colors?

In that timeless, unencumbered ride, we exchange a smile of appreciation and admiration. It is just enough and more than required that we might share this exceptional high.

It is freedom.

It is peace.

It is connection.

It is pure.

It is love.

Not confined by a conventional definition or conditions under which others consider normal.

Beyond.

Could you dare to venture there?

When you have returned to the reality of responsibilities, as the constraint of time creeps back, and your feet land firmly on solid ground, hold fast to the memories embedded in your heart. Forever in your soul. Because we have touched.

And when the walls come closing in and nothing seems to make sense, remember me.

When your best intentions aren't enough and others disappoint you, think of me when you need to smile.

When you see your hands are empty and your arms seem to ache, know that I am here for you.

You're out there walking on life's highway and it seems the map gets so unclear, I can point the way.

I'll be there for you when nothing comes easy, I will stand by you.

I'll be the one you can rely on, for whatever you might need.

I'll be the best friend you've always wanted and never thought could exist.

Try not to think too hard, or wait too long, or worry to much.

It's only love that you need.

Unconditionally.

In its purest form, unattached to must- do- this, and must-be-that.

Simply put, but not so small, will you take my gift in its all in all?

The gift of love.

  1. Yes, unconditional love IS the greatest gift and the one I always strive to give my loved ones .... and myself.

  2. I think this is from God's point of view because although we strive to love, there are times when we can not truly give of ourselves in this unconditional way.
